CORONAL POLISHING

Taught by a licensed North Carolina dental hygienist, the course combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical training. Students will gain confidence in dental morphology, periodontal anatomy, handpiece use, polishing agents, and infection control.

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Demonstrate safe and effective coronal polishing techniques.

  • Understand the difference between coronal polishing and prophylaxis.

  • Meet North Carolina’s requirements for coronal polishing certification.

  • Earn a certificate documenting their competency, allowing them to perform coronal polishing under dentist supervision.

Why This Course Matters:

Coronal polishing is a high-responsibility role that strengthens a dental assistant’s connection to clinical dentistry. Graduates not only enhance their earning potential but also become more integral to the dental care team, working closely with hygienists during preventive appointments and assisting dentists during treatment planning.
